I have/am experiencing this problem. When i booted up my screen showed only different colours of lines. The next time i booted i held down the "fn" key and my notebook ran colour tests on the screen. After it was complete i pushed "ctrl+alt+del" and my comp booted up with the display functioning normally. I then dl'd the biod update and now hope the problem does not come back until i find a better replacement than Nvidia 8600.
